TransFocus’ Strategy Sessions
Avoid law suits and create a workplace that is inclusive of transgender people
In light of increasing instances of legal action (e.g., BCHRT 137 and ONHRTO 240), we created the perfect support for your organization with our strategy sessions. For nearly 10 years, TransFocus has been providing hundreds of organizations with education and strategies to unlock the places where transgender people get stuck. We have educated over 25,000 employees and conducted research among 10,000 people across many different industries and sizes of companies.
What to Expect
TransFocus provides your leadership team with either 1) a brief overview of all topics or 2) in-depth information on one (1) topic. This is an opportunity for your team(s) to ask questions and get timely input to ensure changes are made in thoughtful and deliberate ways.
✧ Depending on the size of your company, each strategy session entails between 5 and 10 hours of consultation, which includes review of materials shared in preparation for the meeting, 1 meeting, and a brief summary of key issues and changes. Each strategy session entails the following steps:
Before Meeting: Compile and share relevant documents, videos, screenshots of policies, programs, systems, or layouts of spaces for TransFocus to review and comment (up to 15 pages)
During Meeting: Hold a meeting with the TransFocus specialist and one department or cross-departmental team. Explore and discuss options available for change. Undertake decision-making process to determine the best option
After Meeting: TransFocus provides a summary of key outcomes of the meeting (up to 2 pages)
✧ Some clients already have an idea of what topic(s) they want to work on with TransFocus, and this is how we have categorized them:
-
(e.g., written or visual)
-
(e.g., washrooms or change rooms)
-
(e.g., first names, pronouns, titles, or gender categories)
-
(e.g., coming out at work, gender-affirming procedures, or parental leave)
Note: Depending on the size of the company and the complexity of the issues, one topic may take more than one strategy session to discuss and decide on the way(s) forward. The need for additional sessions is easier to determine after the first meeting.
